Meet Widemouth
Widemouth is a band based in Chicago. They play indie music of the folk/rock variety. They've been playing around the bars and houses and venues of Chicago for a little more than two years, interspersed by a few self-booked tours around the Midwest and East Coast. Mak gets the lion's share of credit for the band's beginnings. She put up a flyer in a Northwestern building that said something like "Wanna be in a super awesome band?" which Jamie responded to even though there wasn't much time left before he graduated and went to some other metropolitan area to be a yuppy. They started singing together, beginning with Paul Simon and Big Thief songs, and quickly discovered that it was a lot of fun. After about 6 months of playing duo - open mics, house shows, etc. - Lily miraculously responded to the same flyer that had netted Jamie. Within about 20 seconds of playing Scott Street in a dark practice room at the Northwestern music school, the band version of Widemouth was born. They've loved and lost a bass player named Levi, who moved to NYC. They now have a bass player named Pat, who is not in some of the band pictures for now but is nonetheless awesome and beloved. They are a treat band, meaning they like to eat dessert when they have practice.
